Some minor edits to the SPREADSHEET.
The PAYMENT DUE DATE of each line entry will not populate because we are in a new millenium since the spreadsheet was created. HIGHLIGHT the payment date column. Click on edit in the title bar. Click on FIND & REPLACE. TYPE IN 1900 for what you want found and 2000 for what you want replaced.
ALSO,the space for 120 payments in the GREEN space below the pink should be =(E7)*(12). This should bring everything up to snuff as designed.

I am wondering about a few of the squares – how can we find out what should be in the pink square marked with 10 in the example?

    • David Woodside says:

Hi Heather. I looked at the spreadsheet. The 10 is the number of years in which to amortize the loan.

      • David Woodside says:

BTW, I don’t see any use for the date in cell E9. It doesn’t appear to be used anywhere. I deleted that date with no apparent affect in the spreadsheet. Anyone know?

  3. Cresencio Mandujano says:

    I can find the form

  4. David Woodside says:

I think the form has some errors in the “Loan Details” data entry block at the top. Here’s what I think should be corrected:

Cell A7 should read “Loan Term (years)”. Then you enter the number of years in the adjacent pink cell E7.

The formula in Cell E11 seems to have been deleted before the spreadsheet was uploaded to the Club site. It should contain the formula: =E7*12 This is consistent with the spreadsheet’s instructions that green cells are calculated.

Cell E9 doesn’t appear to be used and can be deleted and ignored. I searched the spreadsheet for a reference to cell E9, and it has none.

Making these changes, the results are as expected, and they agree with my old reliable HP 12C calculator’s amortization functions.

Heather: you seem to be using this spreadsheet. Do you agree?

    • Mark Mahaffey says:

      David,

Your suggestions seem correct. I just downloaded this spreadsheet, and as of March 27, 2014 it still has not been corrected. While cell E9 does not appear to be used elsewhere, perhaps it should be a “green” field that is calculated to show the final payment date based on the input origination date and loan term.

In cell E9 insert the formula =TODAY() for today’s date..This will insert the date that you created the form
