Millionaire in the Making – Don Kieffer

It was late December 2011, and I was on my way home from another 12 hour work day at the j.o.b.  Listening to the radio, an advertisement caught my attention, “Make a 6 figure income part time… I’m Ron LeGrand, the Millionaire Maker”. I had owned rentals for over 8 years with slow growth and headaches, but Ron talked about quick turn real estate, I was hooked.

I booked a spot in May 2012 at the Quick Start Real Estate School in Dallas, Texas. The weekend was everything I had hoped for and was when I was introduced to the mentor program.

Energy, skill and motivation..the best way to describe the different mentors.  Ron LeGrand spoke about a mentor program and was just what I was looking for! They agreed to take me on and then it all changed….

Up until the event, a tool belt, truck and long hours were the norm. My family time was suffering and my idea of “getting ahead” was doing everything myself, not spending anything extra and hope that it pays off.

As Ron says…Hope isn’t a business plan.

With hope out of the picture, in stepped Ron’s instruction to deliver the plan. It has been a few months under the mentoring program and here’s the recap:

Complete: Business cards, street signs, car magnets, door hangers, virtual assistant, FSBO caller, ant farm, print/internet ads, web sites, 5 emails, 5 phone numbers and a new LLC.

I have spoken to hundreds of sellers/ buyers, have contracts out and checks pending.

With all of this going, I couldn’t believe what happened next… I landed myself a spot at the county jail!! Now, I didn’t say I got arrested, but it was a life changing experience.

With all the marketing in place and calls going out, I’ll admit, at times, I was a little frustrated with all the sellers who wanted to sell, not needed to sell. But, my mentors kept giving direction week after week,” keep increasing your marketing, keep increasing your marketing.” So the following week, I targeted a high traffic area and dropped 15 signs,” We Buy Houses, Cash”.

I received 2 phone calls the 1^st day, one that said I needed to get rid of the signs and a second. The second was the game changer. The caller, a woman, came to my town with her 2 children recently and was currently living in a tent in her soon to be mother-in-law’s backyard while her boyfriend was in jail and needed to sell her house that was owned free and clear in a different state. She had no money and saw my sign and wanted to sell. I about fell off my chair. Thoughts rushed through my head, what if I had never put out those signs? What if I hadn’t listened to my mentors and stopped new ways to market?

I worked  a deal with the woman and she stated she was very thankful that I took the time to meet her at the jail, in the rain and appreciative of a business like mine. Wow!

I wrote this testimonial to show the power of taking action my mentors will say over and over. I am close to my 1st checks, have put the tool belt away and am building this business part time. Not to mention, the people I am getting under contract are thankful for the opportunity. The feeling can’t get much better, and I want to personally thank Ron, for putting me in jail!
